Start My TransformationFrom master plan to finished yard.
- 01
Master plan & budget
We plan the whole yard at once, covering pool, patio, shade and driveway, then set a budget against it so decisions are made with the full picture rather than one piece at a time.
- 02
Permits & scheduling
Permits are pulled together and the trades are sequenced in the right order, which is the main thing separate contractors get wrong and the main reason yards sit half-finished.
- 03
Structural & hardscape
Structures, shells, bases and hardscape go in first, while there is still access for equipment and nothing finished is at risk of damage.
- 04
Water, shade & lighting
Water features, pergolas and lighting are added once the hard surfaces are set, with wiring and plumbing already run rather than chased in afterwards.
- 05
Landscape & reveal
Planting goes in last so nothing is trampled by the work before it, and the yard is handed over finished rather than in stages.
What to know before you build.
What counts as an outdoor living space?
In South Florida it usually means the yard is treated as rooms rather than leftover space: somewhere shaded to sit, a surface that is comfortable underfoot, often a pool or a summer kitchen, and lighting that makes all of it usable after dark. The distinction that matters is not the feature list, it is whether the parts were designed together. A pergola dropped beside a patio that drains the wrong way is two projects, not an outdoor living space.
In what order should an outdoor renovation be built?
Heavy and buried work first, finishes last. Excavation, structural work, drainage and any plumbing or conduit go in while machinery can still reach the yard and nothing finished can be damaged. Hard surfaces follow, then shade structures and lighting, then planting. Done out of order you pay twice: a finished patio gets cut open for a conduit nobody ran, or new planting is crushed by a machine that still had work to do.
Can the work be phased over time instead of all at once?
Yes, and it is common. The thing worth doing up front even in a phased build is the plan and the buried work: drainage, conduit and sleeves under any surface you are pouring now. Those cost little while the ground is open and are expensive to retrofit. With that done, a pergola or summer kitchen can be added two years later without cutting into finished hardscape.
Can one contractor handle the pool, patio, pergola and driveway together?
That is the main reason to combine them. Running separate contractors means separate mobilisations, separate permits, and a yard where the paver colour, the deck level and the drainage were each decided by someone who never spoke to the others. A single exterior renovation sequences the trades in the right order and keeps materials and levels consistent across the whole property.
